A Fourth Judicial District grand jury returned an indictment on Tuesday, Oct. 6 in a case filed at the Nenana court, and the count it returned on is more serious than the one originally charged.

The case is 4NE-26-00096CR, State of Alaska vs. Zappone, Krista Marie, filed Sep. 26 with a status of Reopened. Alaska CourtView records that the sixth count on the file was originally charged as burglary in the second degree, AS 11.46.310, a Class C felony. The indicted charge against that same count reads burglary in the first degree, in a dwelling, AS 11.46.300(a)(1), a Class B felony, with a stage date of Oct. 6. The offence location on the count is Denali National Park and the offence date is Sep. 25.

A seventh count was added to the file the same day by information: criminal trespass in the first degree, on land with intent to commit a crime, AS 11.46.320(a)(1), a Class A misdemeanour, also at Denali National Park.

The case is 4DJ-26-00056CR, State of Alaska vs. Budnik, Pavel Ivanovich, filed Sep. 21 at the Delta Junction court. Alaska CourtView records a representation hearing set for Oct. 6 at 3:45 p.m. in Courtroom 404 before Judge Thomas Temple, with the result "Deft Failed to Appear. Warrant to Issue."

A docket entry of the same date records a warrant issued by the Delta Junction court with bail set at $5,000 appearance, 10 per cent posting required, and a direction that the defendant not be released until he appears before a judicial officer. The warrant was issued to the Alaska State Troopers and Judicial Services at Delta Junction and Fairbanks.
