The first-degree murder charge against Brian Jeffery Davenport was dismissed on Friday, Oct. 9, and the case was closed. The court file records the entry as a charge dismissed on a finding that the defendant was found incompetent.

Elijay John Sam is charged with vehicle theft in the first degree under AS 11.46.360(a)(1), a Class C felony; failure to stop at the direction of an officer, reckless driving, under AS 28.35.182(a)(1), a Class C felony; and improper use of registration, title or plates under AS 28.10.481, an unclassified misdemeanour. All three counts are offence-dated Aug. 19, 2026 at Fairbanks. None is flagged as domestic violence related.

The indicted-charge and amended-charge fields are empty on all three counts, so the court file does not state which count or counts the grand jury returned on.

An arraignment held on Friday, Oct. 9 was followed by a felony pre-trial order effective Oct. 14. A Superior Court arraignment is set for Oct. 14, an omnibus hearing for Dec. 3 and a trial week for Dec. 21. He is charged, not convicted.

The count is offence-dated Sep. 17, 2026 and the offence location is recorded as Venetie. The count is not flagged as domestic violence related.

An arraignment was held on Friday, Oct. 9 in Courtroom 102 at Fairbanks. Preliminary hearings are set for Oct. 15 and Oct. 29 at Fairbanks.

A trooper report of the arrest recorded one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree; the court file carries the second degree, and the court file is the charge of record. A second trooper entry records an arrest at Venetie on a $150,000 warrant for sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.

Troopers recorded a single-vehicle rollover off the Steese Highway at about 01:20 on Friday, Oct. 9, with two occupants.

The trooper report records that Garet Jones, 23, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test, and that a passenger, Gabriel Waxman, 23, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct. Both were taken to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Two Fairbanks court files were opened on Oct. 9 under those names, 4FA-26-02053CR and 4FA-26-02052CR. Each records one count as a charging document pending or not filed, with no degree of offence. Neither file carries any of the three charges the trooper report names, and one of the two carries no docket entry at all.

Arraignment dates of Oct. 16 are carried on both files. Both men are arrested and, as the court files stand, charged with nothing. Ages are as the trooper report states them.

The report states that Sheri Brown, 55, of Clear, was found deceased at her residence, that no foul play is suspected, that the State Medical Examiner was notified and that her remains were released to the family. Next of kin were present.

No manner of death is stated in the report and none has been announced. No court record returns under the name.
