Grand jury indicts a second-degree assault count in a Fairbanks domestic violence case

A Fourth Judicial District grand jury returned an indictment on Thursday, Oct. 8 in 4FA-26-01946CR, State of Alaska vs. Burdo Jr, William Roger.

The file carries six counts, all at Fairbanks and all recorded as domestic violence related: assault in the second degree, injury with a weapon with intent, AS 11.41.210(a)(1), a Class B felony, offence-dated Sep. 26; assault in the third degree, cause fear of injury with a weapon, AS 11.41.220(a)(1)(A), a Class C felony, offence-dated Sep. 27; two counts of assault in the fourth degree, recklessly injure, Class A misdemeanours; and two counts of criminal mischief in the fifth degree, tamper with property, Class B misdemeanours.

An indicted charge is now carried on the Class B felony and the Class C felony counts. 4FA-26-01996CR, State of Alaska vs. Cosca, Anthony Alan, carries three counts offence-dated Mar. 18, Apr. 15 and Jul. 15, 2026 at Fairbanks. All three now carry an indicted charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree, manufacture or deliver methamphetamine, AS 11.71.021(a)(2)(A), a Class A felony, alongside an amended charge under the same subsection entered on the day the case was filed. Preliminary hearings stand for Oct. 12 and Oct. 22.

4FA-26-01949CR, State of Alaska vs. Gayvoronskiy, Vitaliy P, carries three counts offence-dated Apr. 27, Aug. 12 and Aug. 27, 2026 at Fairbanks, all three now carrying an indicted charge under the same subsection, stage-dated Oct. 8. No attorney is entered for the defendant, no event of any kind is calendared, and the last process on the file is a warrant issued by the Fairbanks court on Sep. 29 at $10,000 cash performance. Ten docket rows are new since the Oct. 8 reading and all ten carry dates between Sep. 28 and Oct. 2: log notes for five days of jury trial, an order denying a motion on the record, a State's exhibit list, a witness list, a defence exhibit list, a confidential selection of jurors, a note from the jury, the order of commitment and the verdicts document.

The file carries two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, contact, AS 11.41.436(a)(3), Class B felonies, both offence-dated Jun. 20, 2024 at Fairbanks and both recorded as domestic violence related. Both were indicted in December 2024. The counts are unchanged and no disposition code appears against either.

The two counts of conviction are known from an Alaska Department of Law release dated Oct. 5, which states that a Fairbanks jury found him guilty on Oct. 2. The sentencing date on the court's event list is the date and time that release gives. The person who was abused is not named in any source carried here.

It is the court file for a police arrest at the 2300 block of South Cushman Street at 06:48 on Oct. 3, which police recorded on the same charge.

4FA-26-02029CR, filed Oct. 7 under the same name, now carries one count of indecent exposure in the second degree, AS 11.41.460, a Class B misdemeanour, offence-dated Oct. 6 at Fairbanks. A charging document was filed on Oct. 8 along with a notice of redacting the charging document. An arraignment stands for Oct. 13, with a pre-trial conference Nov. 24 and a trial week Dec. 7.

The count as filed is the subsection for a victim aged 18 or over. The police record of the arrest behind that file, at the 1600 block of East Cowles Street at 21:40 on Oct. 6, carried the label for a victim aged 16 or over. The court file governs the charge.

Troopers record a concealed loaded pistol at a Van Horn Road traffic stop; the only court file is a non-criminal licence infraction

The Alaska State Troopers daily dispatch for Oct. 8, incident AK26100321, states that at approximately 00:41 that morning a trooper stopped a Ford SUV after the driver failed to signal while leaving a Van Horn Road bar car park; that the driver, identified as Michael Lamoreaux, was found to be operating without a valid Alaska driver's licence and was asked to step out for field sobriety testing; that while exiting the vehicle he disclosed a concealed pistol in his waistband, which was recovered and found to be loaded; and that he was charged with misconduct involving a weapon in the fifth degree for failing to notify the trooper immediately of the concealed firearm. The entry was posted at 04:50 on Oct. 8.

One court record returns under that name: 4FA-26-05258MO, filed Oct. 8, case type Minor Offense, carrying one count of driving without a valid operator's licence, AS 28.15.011(b), recorded as a non-criminal infraction, offence-dated Oct. 8, on a citation issued by the Alaska State Troopers. Man charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief after damage in the Fairbanks trooper post lobby

The Alaska State Troopers daily dispatch, incident AK26100318, states that at approximately 23:47 on Oct. 7 troopers responded to the Fairbanks Trooper Post after a man caused damage in the front lobby vestibule and left the area; that he was located about half a mile from the post and identified as Ryan Bud James; that he acted aggressively toward the responding trooper and made threatening statements; that he was detained without further incident and admitted tampering with fire alarm equipment at the post, which had triggered an audible alarm; and that he was charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree for damaging and tampering with fire protection equipment in a public building. The entry was posted at 05:59 on Oct. 8.

No court file carrying that count has been identified. One case number was opened under that name on Oct. 8, 4FA-26-02035CR, and it records one count as charging document pending or not filed. A separate police record states that a man of that name was arrested at the 1600 block of East Cowles Street at 01:46 on Oct. 8 on a charge of criminal trespass in the second degree. A second entry, incident AK26100497, states that at approximately 12:34 on Oct. 8 troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a welfare check, that the person being checked on was found deceased at their residence, that no criminal aspect is suspected and that next of kin has been notified. That entry names no one. It was posted at 15:51 on Oct. 8.

No crime is alleged in either. No finding has been announced by the State Medical Examiner's Office on either death. The dispatch states a manner of death in the first and states none in the second.
