Class A felony robbery charge filed in Fairbanks; warrant issued

FelonyAlaska Court System

Jordan Henry Williams was charged on Oct. 1 with robbery in the first degree while armed with a deadly weapon, a Class A felony, together with criminal mischief in the fifth degree and reckless endangerment. All three counts are dated Sept. 27 at Fairbanks and none is recorded as domestic violence related.

The court issued a warrant the same day with bail set at $20,000 performance, and the file states that the defendant may not be released until the court approves conditions of release. No hearing is calendared, no attorney is entered for the defendant, and the record does not state that an arrest has been made. The case is on an information and has not been presented to a grand jury. Williams is charged, not convicted.

A Fairbanks police record for Sept. 27 lists a case at the 900 block of the Old Steese Highway at 1:47 p.m. under the same three offense types: robbery with a cutting instrument, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. That record states police were told of an intoxicated man threatening staff and throwing a whiskey bottle, and that he was reported to be swinging an axe. Neither record refers to the other and no connection between them is asserted here.

Fairbanks police record dates the Bentley Drive shooting that killed two to Sept. 16

Fairbanks Police Department

The Fairbanks Police Department's September activity record, published Oct. 1, dates the Bentley Drive shooting in which two people died to Sept. 16, 2026, in a time window beginning at 9:11 p.m. The department classifies the case as manslaughter by negligence.

The record states that officers responded to the 700 block of Bentley Drive for a report of a shooting, that two people were found inside the residence with gunshot wounds, that one was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead, and that the investigation is ongoing.

The classification is the department's own offense code. It is not a criminal charge and it is not a finding of the State Medical Examiner's Office, which has announced no determination in the case. No charge has been filed in connection with the deaths. The two people who died are not named here.

Grand jury indicts in North Pole kidnapping case; Superior Court arraignment set for Oct. 7

FelonyAlaska Court System

A grand jury has returned an indictment against Dante Nathaniel Larry Claxton on the count of kidnapping with injury or sexual assault, an unclassified felony dated Sept. 22 at North Pole. The court file records the indicted charge where the field had previously been empty.

Both preliminary hearings, set for Oct. 1 and Oct. 12, are now marked vacated. A Superior Court arraignment is set for Oct. 7 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 402, an omnibus hearing for Nov. 5 and a trial week for Nov. 23. The file also carries two Class A misdemeanors at Fairbanks, assault in the fourth degree and interference with a report of a domestic violence crime. All three counts are recorded by the court as domestic violence related. Nothing in the record describes the incident and no person recorded as a victim is identified. Claxton is charged, not convicted.

FelonyAlaska Court System

A grand jury has indicted Lillybeth Elyce Hansen on one count of felony driving under the influence with two or more prior convictions, a Class C felony dated Sept. 24. A Superior Court arraignment is set for Oct. 21 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 402, a calendar call for Nov. 17 and a trial week for Nov. 30. The second count is driving with a license canceled, suspended or revoked for a criminal offense, a Class A misdemeanor. The offense location is Denali National Park, outside the Fairbanks area; the case is carried here because the defendant was remanded to the Fairbanks jail. Hansen is charged, not convicted.

State closes review of July trooper shooting in Fairbanks without charges

Alaska Department of Law

The Alaska Department of Law's Office of Special Prosecutions has closed its review of the July 7 shooting in which an Alaska State Trooper shot and killed a 20-year-old Fairbanks man, and will not file criminal charges, according to a report published Oct. 1 by KTVF. The report states the office found insufficient evidence to disprove beyond a reasonable doubt that Sgt. Brent Hatch acted in self-defense.

The report sets out the sequence as follows: a trooper attempted to stop a car near Noble Street and Airport Way for equipment violations in the early morning of July 7; the driver did not stop and was pursued for about 90 seconds before turning down a dead-end road in the 100 block of Fifth Avenue, where the car became partly boxed in by a patrol car; troopers said the driver then drove toward Hatch, who was outside his vehicle; Hatch fired and a second trooper at the scene did not. The man was taken to a Fairbanks-area hospital and pronounced dead, and his body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office.

The report gives the date of the decision inconsistently, stating both that it was announced on a Monday and that the review was completed on a Tuesday, and no announcement date is asserted here. The Department of Law's own press index, read Oct. 2, carries no item about this review and nothing newer than Sept. 28.

Fairbanks police publish 312 September incident records, including three death investigations

Fairbanks Police Department

The Fairbanks Police Department publishes a monthly record of police activity on its own website, under Citizens Resources, and the September 2026 file went up on Oct. 1. It covers Sept. 1 to Oct. 1 in 51 pages and contains 312 separate case numbers, each with an offense classification, a street-level location, a time window, a reported date and a narrative paragraph.

By the department's own count, the most common September classifications inside the city were shoplifting (34 cases), simple assault (26), warrant arrests (25), fraud (19), other larceny (15), criminal mischief under $750 (13), criminal trespass (10), hit and run (10) and driving under the influence (7). The file also includes non-crime categories such as found property, welfare calls and runaways.

The record contains three death investigations in September, dated Sept. 13, Sept. 16 and Sept. 17. None of the three appeared on the department's daily public bulletin, which covers arrests and incidents in the city of Fairbanks and does not carry death investigations. The monthly record is published about a month after the period it covers.

Police record a September home invasion in which a 76-year-old Fairbanks man was assaulted and robbed

Fairbanks Police Department

The Fairbanks Police Department's September record lists a case at the 1000 block of Twenty-Second Avenue at about 12:25 a.m. on Sept. 15, classified as forced burglary and robbery with another dangerous weapon. The record states that officers responded to a report of a home invasion, that the victim was a 76-year-old Fairbanks man, that he was assaulted, sustained several injuries and was transported, and that the property taken was $400 in quarters.

The record states that two suspects were described to officers and that officers were unable to locate them in the area. No arrest is recorded and no suspect is named. The case did not appear on the department's daily bulletin, in trooper dispatches, or in the court filings read for this edition.

Two further September death investigations appear in the Fairbanks police record

Fairbanks Police Department

The Fairbanks Police Department's September record lists two death investigations that have not previously been publicly reported. The first is dated Sept. 13 at about 4:31 p.m., when officers responded to the 600 block of 22nd Avenue for a report of a person found dead. The second is dated Sept. 17 at about 7:26 a.m., when officers responded to the 2800 block of Turner Street for a report of a death.

The record states that both investigations are ongoing. No names are published here. Neither case appeared on the department's daily bulletin, in trooper dispatches or in any news report found for this edition.

Five criminal cases filed at Fairbanks on Thursday, one a Class A felony

Alaska Court System

Five criminal cases were filed at the Fairbanks court on Oct. 1, according to the Alaska Court System's weekly charges report. One is the Class A felony robbery case set out separately in this edition. The other four are misdemeanors.

Ellis Mathew Akpik, 36, was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and two counts of violating conditions of release, all Class B misdemeanors dated Oct. 1 at Fairbanks, and was arraigned the same afternoon with counsel appointed. Deston Hugh Bifelt, 22, was charged with assault in the fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor dated Oct. 1 at Fairbanks and recorded by the court as domestic violence related, and was also arraigned the same afternoon. Both arrests also appear on the Fairbanks police daily bulletin for Oct. 1.

Levi Dylan Skulstad was charged with criminal mischief in the fifth degree, a Class B misdemeanor dated Aug. 28 at Fairbanks, in a second case separate from the felony assault file already carried here. James Arthur Nunley was charged with failing to stop for a school bus, a Class B misdemeanor dated Sept. 29. All are charged, not convicted.

The report also added one case to Monday, Sept. 28: a single count of driving in violation of a restricted permit at North Pole, a misdemeanor not classified, with an arraignment set for Oct. 27. The date of birth on that file shows the defendant is a juvenile; no name or age is published here.

Court report shows twelve Fairbanks-area cases closed on Sept. 29 and Sept. 30

Alaska Court System

The Alaska Court System's report of criminal cases disposed refreshed on Oct. 1 after four days unchanged, and its window moved to cases closed between Sept. 1 and Oct. 1. It records twelve Fairbanks-area closures on dates the earlier version did not reach: ten at Fairbanks on Sept. 29, two at Fairbanks on Sept. 30 and one at Nenana on Sept. 29.

Seven counts across those cases are recorded as guilty convictions after a guilty plea, on charges including criminal trespass in the second degree, disorderly conduct, harassment in the first degree, violating conditions of release and false information or report. Other counts were dismissed by prosecutors, four of them under a code recording dismissal because of a plea agreement in another case. Four of the ten Sept. 29 closures carry the same name and date of birth and three carry a second name, indicating cases resolved together.

Over the full Sept. 1 to Oct. 1 window the report lists 137 case numbers closed at Fairbanks, eight at Nenana, six at Delta Junction and none at Healy. Those figures are not comparable with figures published for earlier windows of the same report.

Four Fairbanks-area case files that carried no charges have all resolved

Alaska Court System

Four case numbers that had been opened in the Fairbanks court with no charging document on them have now resolved in different ways.

Austin David John Rue-Roberts was charged on Sept. 29 with driving under the influence, a Class A misdemeanor at Fairbanks, with an arraignment set for Oct. 6. Lori Ellen Weaver was charged on Sept. 29 with driving under the influence and driving with a license canceled, suspended or revoked for a criminal offense, both Class A misdemeanors at North Pole, with an arraignment set for Oct. 6.

The case opened against Jason Westley Price on Sept. 24, with an offense recorded at North Pole, was closed on Sept. 30 with the charging document still recorded as pending or not filed, and the case number no longer returns a record in the court's public database. The case opened against Taya D McGraw on Sept. 30 also no longer returns a record, and does not appear in the court's dispositions report; no explanation is available from the public records.

A case number can be opened when a person is booked, closed if no charging document is filed, and reopened later if charges arrive, in which case it appears in the public database again from the day it reopens.

Troopers forward unlawful contact charges to prosecutors in Fairbanks case

Alaska State Troopers

The Alaska State Troopers dispatch posted at 2:35 a.m. on Oct. 2 states that on Sept. 29 at about 2:21 p.m. troopers received a report that Isaiah Weeks, 34, was violating his conditions of release through unlawful contact, and that after further investigation multiple charges of unlawful contact and violating conditions of release were forwarded to the District Attorney's Office.

No charge class is stated here because no court file exists: no case recording those counts appears in the court's weekly charges report for the week ending Oct. 1, and a name search of the court's public database returns no case filed since July. The dispatch records that the charges were forwarded for review rather than filed, and records no arrest.

City police bulletin adds a Sept. 30 arrest and lists four events for Oct. 1

Alaska State Troopers and Fairbanks Police Department

The Fairbanks police daily bulletin now lists one event for Sept. 30, a date that had shown no events on two earlier readings: an arrest at the 1200 block of Cowles Street at 10:05 a.m. on a charge of criminal trespass in the second degree. The court charged the same matter the same day under 4FA-26-01983CR.

The bulletin lists four events for Oct. 1, all misdemeanors: an arrest at the 1600 block of East Cowles Street at 11:54 a.m. of a 26-year-old woman on charges of assault in the fourth degree, harassment in the first degree and criminal trespass; an arrest at the 1000 block of Noble Street at 11:07 a.m. of a 24-year-old man on a criminal trespass charge; and the two arrests charged in court the same afternoon and set out above. It listed no events for Oct. 2 when read at 4:22 a.m.

The trooper dispatch listed no events for the Fairbanks area on Oct. 1 and one on Oct. 2. Both feeds add entries to past dates, so a count for any day is a minimum rather than a total, and no day should be read as quiet because a feed showed nothing when it was checked.

Fifteen days since the state announced a Fairbanks-area case outcome

Alaska Department of Law and U.S. Attorney

The Alaska Department of Law has published nothing since Sept. 28, when it announced that the acting attorney general had joined a 23-state challenge to three-day waiting periods for firearms purchases, a civil filing. The most recent Fairbanks-area criminal outcome the department has announced remains a 30-year sentence in a 2012 sexual assault case, displayed Sept. 17 — fifteen days ago.

Its press index carries no item about the Office of Special Prosecutions decision in the July 7 Fairbanks trooper shooting, which a newsroom reported on Oct. 1 and attributed to that office. The index does carry a comparable review of an Anchorage officer-involved shooting, displayed Sept. 9.

The U.S. Attorney's office for the District of Alaska has published nothing new in three days. Its most recent Fairbanks-area items remain a Sept. 18 judgment of more than $1.3 million in a bribery case involving contracts at Eielson Air Force Base and a Sept. 4 sentence of 30 years in a Fairbanks firearms and drug trafficking case.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner published a new public safety column dated Oct. 1. Its first item, the only part readable without a subscription, states that Kianna King, 26, of Fairbanks, pleaded guilty on Sept. 17 to a reduced count of fourth-degree assault, with restitution, in a case from January 2025.
