Six counts filed in Skyridge Road domestic violence case, two of them felonies

FelonyAlaska Court System

A complaint filed at Fairbanks on Sept. 28 charges William Roger Burdo Jr with six counts arising from a call to the Skyridge Road area, and records every count as domestic violence related.

The counts are assault in the second degree, injury with a weapon with intent, a Class B felony, dated Sept. 26; assault in the third degree, cause fear of injury with a weapon, a Class C felony, dated Sept. 27; two counts of assault in the fourth degree, recklessly injure, Class A misdemeanors; and two counts of criminal mischief in the fifth degree, Class B misdemeanors. The last four are dated Sept. 27.

Troopers had responded at about 8:26 p.m. on Sept. 27 and reported five counts, placing the whole incident on that date. The court file carries six counts and dates the Class B felony to Sept. 26. Where the two records differ, the court file states what the State has charged.

Arraignment was held Sept. 28 and the Public Defender Agency was appointed. Preliminary hearings are set for Oct. 8 and Oct. 15. No grand jury has heard the case. Burdo is charged, not convicted.

Driver charged with felony assault after injury collision on the Parks Highway

FelonyAlaska State Troopers

At about 9:56 p.m. on Sept. 27, troopers received a report of a collision at mile 318 of the Parks Highway. Troopers reported that Jennifer Chambers, 38, of Fairbanks, was driving under the influence of alcohol, collided with another motorist causing injury, and left the scene. A complaint filed the following day at Nenana charges three counts, all dated Sept. 27: driving under the influence, a Class A misdemeanor; assault in the third degree, cause injury with a weapon, a Class C felony; and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or death, an unclassified misdemeanor. In a charge of this kind arising from a road collision, the vehicle is the weapon the statute refers to.

Arraignment was held Sept. 28 at the Fairbanks courthouse and preliminary hearings are set for Oct. 8 and Oct. 15. No grand jury has heard the case. Chambers is charged, not convicted.

One count filed in Leuthold Drive case; the assault charge troopers reported is not on the file

MisdemeanorAlaska Court System

A complaint filed at Fairbanks on Sept. 28 charges John William Kane with a single count: misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree, possess while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor, dated Sept. 27. The count is recorded as not domestic violence related.

Troopers had reported the arrest as being on charges of assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence related, and misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree, after responding at about 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 to a reported domestic disturbance in which the caller said a household member was armed. No assault count appears on the court file. The count that is on the file carries an internal tracking number of 002, indicating a first count that the public file does not show. A count can be declined, severed or filed separately, and the public record does not state which occurred here.

Arraignment was held Sept. 28 and the Public Defender Agency was appointed. A pre-trial conference is set for Nov. 12 and a trial week for Nov. 23. Kane is charged, not convicted.

Trooper dispatch for Monday grows from two items to seven through the day

Alaska State Troopers

The Alaska State Troopers dispatch page for Sept. 28 carried two items when read early Monday and seven when read at 5:38 p.m. Three of the five additions were posted in the afternoon.

One records a traffic stop at Airport Way and Cushman Street at 2:13 a.m. on Sept. 26, two days earlier, in which a driver was taken into custody and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center for driving under the influence. No name is given and the investigation is recorded as ongoing.

Another records that at about 9:43 a.m. on Sept. 28 troopers responded to a disturbance involving family members, that the investigation remains ongoing, and that the case will be referred to the District Attorney's Office for review. No one is named and no charge is recorded.

A third records a traffic stop at about 4:27 a.m. on Sept. 27 at a Cushman Street filling station, after which Ethan Fansler was arrested for driving with a cancelled license with a prior conviction and taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center. The corresponding court file, 4FA-26-01937CR, was filed Sept. 27 and reported here that day as appearing in no police or trooper feed; the dispatch entry appeared the following morning.

A count on a same-day dispatch page is the number posted at the time of reading, not a total for the day.

Court dispositions report updates after a week, recording 14 Fairbanks case closures

Alaska Court System

The Alaska Court System's criminal dispositions report updated overnight for the first time since Sept. 21, growing from 319 pages to 358 and extending its window to Sept. 28. The Fairbanks section moved to pages 159 to 190.

Fairbanks cases recorded closed on dates the previous version did not reach: four on Sept. 21, two on Sept. 22, two on Sept. 23, four on Sept. 24 and two on Sept. 26. Five of the 14 closed with the charging document recorded as pending or never filed.

Two closures elsewhere in the Interior: at Nenana, a driving-under-the-influence case dated July 26 ended in a guilty conviction after a guilty plea on Sept. 21; and at Delta Junction, a four-count case dated Sept. 7 involving assault, criminal trespass and harassment charges was closed Sept. 16 with no disposition code printed against any count.

The report records cases that have ended, not pleas entered. A guilty plea reported in the local press on Sept. 24 does not appear in it, because that case remains open pending sentencing.

Three case numbers absent from the public case index are recorded as closed

Alaska Court System

Three Fairbanks case numbers that the court's weekly charges report has been printing, but for which the public case index returns no record, all appear in the updated dispositions report as closed cases. Two were closed on Sept. 24 with the charging document recorded as pending or never filed. The third, a duplicate of a Nenana case filed Sept. 26, was closed the same day it was filed.

A fourth Fairbanks case number and three earlier ones that had dropped out of the weekly report without charges being filed are also recorded as closed, on dates between Sept. 17 and Sept. 26.

Searches of the public case index continued to return no record for all three numbers as of Sept. 28.

Fairbanks sexual assault case closed with two convictions after trial and a 30-year sentence

FelonyAlaska Court System

A Fairbanks case arising from offenses dated in 2012 was recorded closed on Sept. 22. The court record shows two counts of sexual assault in the first degree, penetration without consent, resulting in guilty verdicts after trial on Sept. 17; one count of sexual assault in the second degree, contact without consent, on which the defendant was acquitted after trial on Sept. 22; and a further first-degree count dismissed by the prosecution in March 2026.

The Alaska Department of Law announced the outcome in a release on its press index, stating that Julian Miranda, of Fairbanks, was sentenced to 30 years. It remains the only Interior case outcome the department has announced since Aug. 11.

Two more DUI arrests added to the Sept. 27 trooper dispatch

MisdemeanorAlaska State Troopers

At about 3:20 a.m. on Sept. 27, troopers stopped a vehicle that failed to maintain its lane and arrested Douglas Soles for driving under the influence. He provided a breath sample of 0.117 grams per 210 liters at the Peger Road trooper post and was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center. Court file 4FA-26-01936CR.

At about 1 a.m. the same morning, troopers stopped a minivan near Schacht Street and Van Horn Road after it left a bar parking lot without stopping or signaling. Mariano Quinonez Perez performed field sobriety tests, gave a positive preliminary breath sample and later recorded a breath alcohol content of .077. He was charged under the statute covering operating a vehicle while under the influence, rather than the separate provision that applies at .08 or above. Court file 4FA-26-01935CR.

Both entries were posted after the earlier reading of the Sept. 27 dispatch, which had listed five items. Both men are arrested, not convicted.

MisdemeanorAlaska Court System

Anthony Thomas Burton is charged with one count of driving under the influence with a breath alcohol content of .08 or over, a Class A misdemeanor, dated Sept. 26. The charges report records a reading of .331. Court file 4FA-26-01939CR.

Ethan Fansler is recorded with a charging document pending, dated Sept. 27 at Fairbanks; the corresponding trooper entry appeared on Sept. 28. Court file 4FA-26-01937CR.

North Pole assault case carries six counts, four of them domestic violence related

FelonyAlaska Court System

The court file in 4FA-26-01644CR, against Cody Steven Rudolph-Munro, carries six counts, all dated Aug. 23 at North Pole: assault in the third degree, cause injury with a weapon, a Class C felony; two counts of assault in the fourth degree, recklessly injure; violating conditions of release for a misdemeanor; unlawful contact in violation of a court order; and violating a condition of release for a felony. The five counts other than the felony are misdemeanors. Four of the six are recorded as domestic violence related.

A change of plea hearing was held Sept. 11 and a sentencing hearing on Sept. 15; the public record states that the hearings were held but not what was decided in them. An omnibus hearing is set for Sept. 29 and a trial week for Oct. 12. The case is not recorded in the dispositions report.

The public case index displays only five charges per case and holds any further counts behind a link, which is why the sixth count was not previously reported.

City police bulletin records no events for Sept. 27 or Sept. 28

Fairbanks Police Department

The Fairbanks Police Department daily bulletin returned no events for Sept. 27 on three separate readings and none for Sept. 28 on two, the latest at 5:28 p.m. Monday. Counts for Sept. 21 through Sept. 26 were unchanged on re-reading: 15, one, eight, five, one and two.

A zero on this feed means only that nothing had been posted at the time of reading. The bulletin covers the city of Fairbanks only, never carries death investigations, and does not cover North Pole, Nenana, Healy, Delta Junction or other trooper areas. All of Monday's trooper items, including two domestic violence arrests and a death, were at locations it does not cover.
